Cyclones fall to Scots

Cyclones fall to Scots

The Cyclones continued their conference action in a doubleheader with McHenry County College. They dropped two close ones to the Scots.

Although the Scots had two big innings at the start to go up 7-0, that was where it ended. The Cyclones started the comeback in the top of the third. Christian Cardenas singled before Jake Cummins was hit by a pitch. Arnoldo Velazquez hit a ground ball and reached first on an error, scoring the two runners. In the top of the fourth, Maxwell Hensler drove in two runs on a line drive double to leftfield. The Scots then added their final run in the bottom of that inning. Gilberto Hernandez had a solo homerun in the inning to cap his team's scoring. Although the Cyclones were able to hold the Scots at the plate, they were unable to add any more offensive power, losing this matchup 8-5. Daniel Rosado was the starting pitcher, striking out six. Cole Hermanson came in relieve for the final two innings.

The second game saw a less offensive force from the Cyclones, as they only scored one on a homerun from Jack Hoh in the sixth inning. Only Cummins, Velazquez, Hensler and Peter Mitchell were each able to get a hit in this game. The Scots scored all their runs in the fifth, largely because of Cyclone errors. Ben Cash took the mound, striking out two and only giving up three earned runs. Hermanson threw again in relief as the Cyclones fell 5-1.
