Cyclones lose doubleheader to nationally ranked Warriors

The Cyclones were ready to see how they stack up March 1 when they faced the No. 17 team in NJCAA Division I, Wabash Valley College. However, the Warriors' high-powered offense proved too much for the Cyclones as they lost the doubleheader.

Moraine Valley lost the first game 9-1 after falling behind early. The Warriors scored first in the second inning and continued their surge. Kyel Alexander earned the lone RBI, going 1-for-3 with a double and walk. He, along with Gilbert Jaime-Baez, Stephen Insley and Niles Gall, all had one hit. Timothy Dobrik led the Cyclones on the hill, allowing eight hits and six runs over four innings, but striking out three. Michael Dudek threw two innings in relief.

The second game was a painful 15-3 loss. The Warriors scored in the first inning, however, the Cyclones rallied with a three-run third inning thanks to a double by Antulio Esparza. That same inning also saw Wabash tally 11 more runs. Brett Smith was on the mound for the Cyclones, going two innings and allowing four runs on two hits and striking out one. Robert Keating and Xavier Rosado entered the game in relief, each throwing one inning. Alexander, Jaime-Baez, Insley and Gerald Powell each managed one hit in the loss.
