With only one returning runner, the Cyclones had plenty of unknowns for the 2023 season, yet they captured a fourth consecutive conference title, earned honors and sent two runners to nationals.
At the biggest race of the year and their running careers – the NJCAA Division II Cross Country Championship – the Cyclones ran their best on an overcast, cool day at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
Two runners are headed to nationals after a strong team showing at the NJCAA Region 4 Championship at Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course in Batavia.
The Cyclones ran through rain and muck at the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, but came out with some solid times and an 18th place finish.
The Cyclones finally had all seven runners healthy enough to toe the line at the Gil Dodds Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville. As the only community college, the men took 16th out of 18 teams, and every Cyclone earned a PR.
The Cyclones raced their first 8K of the season at the Spartan Classic on the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course in Batavia. The men took sixth place overall without their full squad among some tough competitors.
The Cyclones opened their season at the Saints Twilight Invite at Channahon Community Park. Although they didn’t have enough runners to score as a full team, they ran well in their first, and only, 5K of the year.
The Cyclones graduated nearly their entire 2022 squad that won a conference championship and competed at nationals. With one returner and new incoming talent, they’re aiming for smaller victories.
