In seven seasons leading the golf program, Cyclones Head Coach Matt Lovelace claimed this team was the most talented he’s had. They consistently played well, finishing first on their home course and raking up some individual awards.
The Cyclones finished up conference action in second place at Waubonsee Community College’s course, Blackberry Oaks Golf Course in Bristol. With this placement, the Cyclones took second overall in the Skyway with three freshmen golfers earning All-Conference honors.
The Cyclones wanted to win this conference match badly, but they were outshot and settled into second place again at Oakton Community College’s course, Heritage Oaks Golf Club, in Northbrook.
For the last several years, the Cyclones have consistently finished second fiddle to College of Lake County. But they finally bested the Lancers for the top spot on their home course at Cog Hill.
The Cyclones continue bettering their scores every match this season, including a solid run at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, the latest conference outing.
There’s a lot to be eager about this year. With two returners and a crop of talented incoming freshmen, the golf team is excited to get started and hopeful for a successful fall.
