After a season full of close wins, the Cyclones (25-5) ran out of luck at the NJCAA Region IV semifinals. They lost 84-81 in a tough matchup with Olive-Harvey College (24-7).
Of all the teams in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference, the Cyclones (23-5) had to worry the most about Prairie State College (19-8), as both teams were contending for the conference championship. Moraine Valley played their best game of the year and earned the coveted crown after the 95-75 win.
With two Skyway Conference games left in the regular season, the pressure is on to keep winning. After being down the entire first half, the Cyclones (22-5) scraped back to take the 87-75 victory from a tough Morton College (16-10), the perfect way to win on Sophomore Night..
As the season gets closer to playoffs, the Cyclones need every conference win to make it count. They came through with a quick lead and eventual 92-78 victory over McHenry County College.
Call them the comeback kids. The Cyclones (18-5) stopped the six-game win streak by Waubonsee Community College (17-6) after making a run in the second half for the 74-70 win.
The Cyclones faced a tough foe in the nationally ranked Milwaukee Area Technical College. Although they hung in there, the Cyclones lost 112-89 to the Stormers.
The Cyclones (14-3) narrowly held on to their perfect conference record with an action-packed matchup against McHenry County College (7-8). Moraine Valley won 76-75 in the final seconds of the game thanks to the combined efforts of Kobe Adams and Anthony Taylor.
When Waubonsee Community College (11-4) came to the Cyclone Center to face the Cyclones (12-3), both teams were well matched. But Moraine Valley was able to capitalize on mistakes and largely control the game for the 92-78 victory.
Through the ups and downs of this first Skyway Conference matchup, the Cyclones needed an overtime to grab the narrow 90-89 win over Elgin Community College on the road.
Since the beginning of November, the Cyclones haven’t lost a game. That streak came to an end when they narrowly lost 85-78 to Bryant and Stratton College.
