A battle to the end in opening match of nationals

In their opening matchup of the NJCAA Division II Volleyball championship, the Cyclones (No. 10) faced an unfamiliar foe in Kirkwood Community College (No. 7), battling to the end.

Although they put up a good fight, the Cyclones fell 2-3 to the Eagles: 19-25, 20-25, 25-21, 26-24 and 9-15. Nerves may have been a factor on this big stage, but several players put it all on the court. Ava Porada amassed 55 assists, the most she's had all season. Brooklyn Condon had 23 kills and 19 digs, and Jaelyn Donald collected 14 kills and 14 digs.

The Cyclones head into the consolation round tomorrow against Cape Fear Community College.
