Cyclones fight through OT

In only their second game of the year, the Cyclones pushed their game with Carl Sandburg College into overtime. Despite their fight, they fell 68-62.

The battle was close to start the game, but a 20-4 second quarter hurt the Cyclones as they struggled offensively. At halftime, Moraine Valley was down 31-19.

After coming out of the 2-3 zone and adding full-court pressure, the tide turned in the third quarter. The Cyclones made a comeback, outscoring the Chargers 21-8 and leading 40-39 after a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Katchie Savic.

The game went back-and-forth for most of the fourth quarter with Sandburg going ahead by up to six-points. Down six with two minutes left, a few well-timed steals ended the game in a deadlock at 54, pushing it into overtime. Despite an offensive rebound by Marty Reeves to take an initial lead, the Charges put up an 8-0 run. It was too much for the Cyclones to recover in five minutes as they lost the affair 68-62.

Chelsea Cross took charge of the offense again with 17 points. Marty Reeves posted her first double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds plus three assists, two steals and two blocks. Savic tallied six assists, six steals and added nine points. Jenna Ryan also added six steals.
