Cyclones keep it close

Cyclones keep it close

On a special night celebrating the sophomores, the Cyclones faced the McHenry County College Scots, which came into this game undefeated. Unlike their previous encounter, Moraine Valley kept the game close even while taking the 81-73 loss.

When these teams met in January, the Cyclones took a beating in the 42-point loss. This time, the Cyclones saw a few scoring surges. They never took the lead, but came within one with two minutes to go in the third quarter, the only quarter they outscored the Scots (19-14). However, the Scots have a scoring machine that got past the Cyclones and hit several threes to keep Moraine Valley down. Even though the Cyclones saw a double-digit deficit in the first half, they were able to claw back with some aggressive drives from Chelsea Cross (14 points) and Kirsten Kamholz (nine points, four steals) as well as fiery rebounding from Nicole Poole (17 rebounds, 13 points) and Natalia Trejo (10 points). Marty Reeves added 14 points and seven rebounds in the effort.
