Foul trouble woes

Foul trouble was the culprit in the Cyclones' first matchup this season with conference foe McHenry County College. They fell 116-74 to the Scots.

The Cyclones were down early as the Scots stunted their offense to just 13 points in the first quarter. Despite their fighting efforts, Moraine Valley had a 30-point deficit in the third quarter but were able to half that. However, nearly 50% of McHenry's possessions were at the free-throw line. The Cyclones had five players foul out, including one of the teams' top point scorers, Chelsea Cross, with nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Of the remaining four players, three had four fouls. In Head Coach Delwyn Jones' tenure, no team has shot more free throws against Moraine Valley than McHenry did in this game — 64 — making a comeback challenging. Kirsten Kamholz led the offense with 18 points followed with Cross, who banked 17.
