Paul Douglas takes 3rd overall while Cyclones finish 3rd

Amid a wet course at the Mt. Prospect Golf Club, the Cyclones grabbed another third place finish in their fifth conference match of the season while sophomore Paul Douglas finished third among all golfers.

This latest match was held on a short course with narrow fairways and tiny greens. The day started with 30 minutes of dumping rain for the first few holes, drenching everyone on the course. The Cyclones pushed their way to a 339 finish, 11 strokes behind Waubonsee Community College in second.

Moraine Valley was led by Douglas (79), who played well on the tough course for third place overall. "His decision to play smart and leave the driver in the bag allowed him to hit most of the fairways, which was very important on this course," said Head Coach Matt Lovelace.

Adding to the team tally was Jack McDonald (85), Marty Bennett (86), Patrick Clifton (89), Randy Miller (90) and Connor Finn 90.

The Cyclones have one final match of their short season on Sept. 30 before region competition begins.
