In their first Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference outing Aug. 28, the Cyclones took second place, a huge first step of the season, as three golfers finished in the top 10.

A sunny day at Sportsman's Country Club saw the average score higher than normal because of strong winds. Moraine Valley finished with a 343 behind College of Lake County (332) and ahead of Oakton Community College (358).

Paul Douglas started conference play with a solid round. He led the team and finished in eighth place individually with an 84. Right behind him were Akim Bizati and Marty Bennett, each with 85, to finish ninth and 10th. Michael Rollberg (88) and Patrick Clifton (101) rounded out the scoring.
