Cyclones take one from Cavaliers

Cyclones take one from Cavaliers

Whenever the Cyclones face Kankakee Community College, they know they're in for a tough battle. They were able to take a decisive 5-1 win before a 14-4 loss.

GAME 1
From the first to last pitch, the Cyclones had this game in the bag with offensive help from nine hits in the 5-1 victory. Danzel Lucas (2-for-3) started the scoring in the second inning with a two-run double followed by an RBI single from Samuel Rogers (1-for-3). Anthony Cappelletti (1-for-2) also drove in a run. Robert Warhol and William Miller each had two hits in this game.

Daccarius Chapman was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and one run over five innings while striking out eight. Agustin Velazquez threw two innings in relief and recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

GAME 2
After a solid first game, the Cyclones lost momentum and gave up a few too many runs in later innings for the 14-4 loss. In the first three innings, the Cyclones had the same edge, going up 3-0. However, the Cavaliers answered with four in the bottom of the third. Moraine Valley tied it up at the top of the fourth, but Kankakee broke it open in the next two innings, scoring 10. Some Cyclone fielding errors as well as decent hitting contributed to the runs. Brian Funk led the offense, going 2-for-2 with 1 RBI. Colin Bulger (1-for-2), Miller (1-for-2), Lucas (1-for-2) and Cappelletti each scored runs.

Jace McWilliams started on the rubber, going three innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out one.
