Cyclones outscore Eagles 23-5

The Cyclones filled in their win column with a couple of big victories in their home opener over Illinois Valley Community College. They outscored the Eagles 23-5.

It was all offense for the Cyclones in their 11-2 victory, and it started early in the first game. Robert Warchol (2-for-2, RBI) got his team on the board in the first inning off a solo homerun. The Cyclones had a big fifth inning, where they scored five runs from singles by Gilberto Hernandez (2-for-3, RBI) and Samuel Rogers (1-for-4, 2 RBIs) and a groundout by Brian Funk (1-for-3, RBI). Overall, Moraine Valley tallied 10 hits. William Miller led the way, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, a double and triple.

Daniel Rosado was the winning pitcher, going six innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out 11. Jack Riemen threw one relief inning.

The second game looked a lot like the first as the Cyclones crushed the Eagles 12-3. Moraine Valley opened up scoring in the first inning when Miller drew a walk, scoring one run. The Cyclones then scored six runs in the second inning led by Winston Hill II (1-for-3), Hernandez (3-for-4, 2 2Bs), Miller (1-for-2, 2B, 3 RBIs) and Thomas Carlson (2-for-2, 3 RBIs), who each had RBIs. Of the 12 Cyclone hits, Robert Otero went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs, a double and triple.

Daccarius Chapman was the winning pitcher on the mound. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out 10 and walking one. Agustin Velazquez threw one inning in relief.
