Cappelletti collects 7 RBIs in Cyclone losses

Major wind and some a major comeback created some high scores in the Cyclones' game with McHenry County College, which also saw Anthony Cappelletti hit for the cycle and collect 7 RBIs.

The Scots started the scoring first, amassing 13 runs in the first three innings. Alex Martinez went for the long ball in the third inning to get his team on the board. The Cyclones then answered the Scots' two runs in the fourth when Scott Richards doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two. Cappelletti singled in the fourth, tripled in the fifth, and doubled in the seventh before his biggest hit of the day.

Heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Moraine Valley was down 16-8. It wasn't until there were two outs that the Cyclone bats came alive. Jake Peterka, Andrew Tenison and Patrick Hayes each hit RBI-doubles before Tellis Parnell knocked in two runs off a single. Cappelletti came up to bat and rocketed a two-run homerun to bat for the cycle and tie the game at 16. However, the Scots burst the bubble with a three-run bomb in the next inning for the final blow as the Cyclones couldn't score in the bottom of the inning and took the 19-16 loss.

Brendan Gill started the game for Moraine Valley. The righty went one and two-thirds innings, allowing 10 runs on five hits and striking out four. Byron Scholp took the loss lasting one inning, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out two and walking one.

The second game wasn't as close in the Cyclones' 11-4 loss. Moraine Valley struggled to contain the Scots' offense as they scored all 11 runs in the first five innings before the Cyclones added any of their own. Cappelletti helped his team again in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run double. Alex Martinez added the other RBI. Moraine Valley tallied seven hits in the game. Martinez and Andrew Tenison each racked up two hits.

Daniel Rosado took the loss for Moraine Valley. The righthander allowed six hits and nine runs over three innings, striking out three.
