Cyclones split with Braves

The Cyclones earned a split with Black Hawk College, winning the first one 6-4 before the 5-3 loss.

A big five-run third inning helped clinch the Cyclones' first win. The Braves scored first before Moraine Valley battled back starting with a walk by Gerald Powell. William Curtis came up and doubled on the first pitch, scoring three runs. Antulio Esparza went 2-for-2 at the plate, driving in two more runs. Richie Kiernicki earned the win on the mound, striking out two and surrendering four runs on four hits over four innings. Out of the bullpen, Xavier Rosado and Michael Dudek helped close out the game.

The Cyclones stayed in the nightcap until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Braves added two more runs to break the 3-3 tie. Robert Keating took the circle to start, striking out three and giving up three runs on four hits. Ryan Czajowski took the loss after allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one. Brenden Butler and Gilbert Jaime-Baez each earned RBIs. Kyel Alexander and Esparza were the only other players to collect hits in this loss.
