Cyclones struggle against Cavaliers

Cyclones struggle against Cavaliers

Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy. That's what happened in the Cyclones' 14-4 loss to the Kankakee Community College Cavaliers.

Moraine Valley had all the pieces to earn a victory, but committed eight errors and gave up eight unearned runs. There were some offensive sparks, however.

Thomas Moran kicked off the scoring in the first inning with a monstrous two-run homerun and added an RBI in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly. Kyel Alexander went 2-for-4 with a single, double and stolen base. Steve Insley added to the scoreboard with an RBI groundout in the third inning

Thomas Engraffia came in relief and threw three shutdown innings that included two strikeouts. Freshman pitcher Michael Dudek also added a strong relief inning with three strikeouts.
