Tough run at Lincoln Land tourney

The Cyclones suffered their first real losing streak at the Lincoln Land Community College Tournament, Oct. 18-19, going 0-for-4 against some of their toughest competition.

Their first and best played match of the event was against Parkland College, where they fell 19-25, 23-25, 13-25. They held on for a near win in the second set, but fell apart in the final one. Lauren Gausselin finished with 16 digs, Noelle Knezz had 12 assists, and Abbigail Fletcher managed seven kills.

Later that night, they struggled against Northeast Community College (18-25, 23-25, 14-25). Gausselin (19 digs), Fletcher (15 digs), Amanda Bulow (11 digs), Taylor Bulow (19 assists) and Knezz (11 kills, nine assists) contributed.

The Cyclones put up a couple longer fights on Oct. 19, going five sets with both Kansas City Kansas Community College (25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 18-25, 12-15) and host Lincoln Land (25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 9-25, 9-25). Fletcher and Amanda Bulow each had season high kills against Kansas with 18. Knezz added 14 kills. Gausselin also saw a season high 38 digs against Lincoln Land.
