Cyclone volleyball was back at it again Aug. 24 at the Waubonsee Community College Tournament, going 2-1 for the weekend.

They won their first set 25-21, 31-29, 13-25, 25-22 against Kirkwood Community College. Abbi Fletcher had 11 kills, 22 digs and three aces. Emily Stepanek finished with 24 digs. Noelle Knezz had 13 kills while Amanda Bulow had 12. Kirkwood is a good team with a big front line, but the Cyclones played smart, using their speed and two big right sides to help.

In their second match, the Cyclones defeated Iowa Lakes Community College in four: 25-12, 25-12, 23-25, 25-19. They had a team total five blocks with 40 kills and a .258 hitting percentage.

The Cyclones resumed play on Aug. 25 to face Iowa Central Community College, a team that finished 10th at nationals last season. Despite that powerhouse persona and strong program, the two teams were evenly matched and put on a show. Moraine Valley ultimately lost in five (18-25, 25-7, 26-24, 12-25, 8-15) after an exhausting battle to the end. Amanda Bulow finished with 17 kills, Taylor Bulow had 23 assists, Knezz had 14 kills and 17 assists, Fletcher dug up 22 and tallied 11 kills while Lauren Gausselin led with 33 digs and 21 service points.
