Home opening win over Lancers

Home opening win over Lancers

The home opener is the best place to kick off a season, and the Cyclones didn't disappoint with a nail-biting winner over College of Lake County.

Defense from both teams was tight throughout the first half. Ball possession changed hands constantly with the Cyclones taking a number of shots, all of which were stopped by the Lancers' goalkeeper. Cyclone Larissa Milenkovski was in the net for most of the game, making several saves. At halftime, the score was deadlocked 0-0.

The intensity picked up in the second half as the Lancers took more shots on goal. The Lancers had a breakaway around the 24-minute mark, but Milenkovski was able to make the save. With 10:36 to go, Cynthia Nunez received a pass from Reagan Cameron and found the back of the net to finally put the Cyclones on the board. The Lancers attempted to fight back, nearly knocking one over goalkeeper Raneen Betouni before she punched it out. Around one minute left in the game, the Cyclones came up big again as Agnes Lojek snuck a pass to Adriana Moreno, who put her team up 2-0 for the victory.
