Nationally ranked Cyclones deadlock in home opener

The Cyclones are finally back in action, and this No. 14 nationally ranked crew opened an atypical spring season with a 2-2 draw with conference rival Morton College.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cyclones haven't played an official game since Nov. 3, 2019. They also changed head coaches and the time of year they usually compete. Yet, they were still able to put forth a strong effort in their first outing in over a year.

The Cyclones did take a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from the 2019 leading scorer Allison Schaar and freshman Gabby Zieba with assists from Azury Sanchez and Zieba. However, the Panthers scrapped back to slide two past Moraine Valley to tie the game. The Cyclones had a few chances to take the lead in overtime but came up just short.
