Cyclones Head Coach Delwyn Jones summed up the season saying that he coached a group of talented, young women whose abilities were not defined by the season’s final record and results.
Against a team they hadn’t defeated all season, the Cyclones stepped up the pressure to take down Prairie State College 69-62 in the NJCAA Region 4 Division II District B playoffs.
In their second to last regular season conference game, the Cyclones were ready to face conference leaders, College of Lake County. Despite a couple of strong quarters, they fell to the Lancers 91-73.
Within roughly a week of their second meeting, the game got physical between Moraine Valley and Oakton College. Unfortunately, it didn’t go the Cyclones’ way this time, and they fell 71-66.
When the Cyclones are on, they’re on. In their first matchup this season with nationally ranked Oakton College, Moraine Valley controlled the entire game, dealing the Owls their first loss of the season.
In their second meeting of the regular season, the Cyclones took another win from the visiting Joliet Junior College Wolves, earning the 71-62 victory in overtime.
On the second day of the Dan Hull Memorial Classic, the Cyclones faced a tough Jackson College that qualified for nationals last season. Moraine Valley held their own but suffered the 84-73 loss.
