Three in a row

When Moraine Valley and McHenry County College met last month, the tight battle left the Cyclones with only a four-point victory. Their latest matchup tonight saw a more dominant force in the Cyclones as they won 86-46.

This solid McHenry team was without their lead scorer in that first meeting, so the Cyclones anticipated an even bigger challenge against a full Scots' lineup. But the Cyclones had all the right pieces in play. The game started out tight as both teams struggled to score early, ending in a 12-all tie at the end of the first quarter. But Moraine Valley found some fuel to outscore the Scots 53-25 over the next two quarters for a commanding lead. In the fourth quarter, the Cyclones scored over 20 points again and held the Scots to nine with firm defense. Maggie Manthey had a hand in interrupting the Scots' offense at their point of attack with her five steals.

Katchie Savic led the attack with 22 points and seven assists. Kirsten Kamholz finished with a double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds). Manthey ended the night with 12 points while Reagan Cameron scored 10 and had three steals.
