First win of the season

First win of the season

The Cyclones broke into the win column with a 74-64 victory over Bryant & Stratton College, avenging an early season loss to the Bobcats.

Moraine Valley came out fast and jumped to an early 10-point lead in the first quarter before the Bobcats cut it down. Another 12-point lead in the second quarter helped the Cyclones remain confident even after a Bobcats buzzer beating 3-pointer cut the lead to 42-35 at the half.

For most of the second half, the Cyclones stayed ahead even as the ball changed possession often. Bryant & Stratton fought back to cut the lead to three early in the fourth quarter but struggled scoring down the stretch as Moraine Valley held them to nine points and pulled out the 10-point victory.

Chelsea Cross and Katchie Savic each had a double-double. Cross led the way with 28 points and 12 rebounds while Savic had 14 points and 11 rebounds along with nine assists and nine steals. Marty Reeves collected 16 points, including eight in the third quarter to thwart off every Bobcat run, going 4-for-5 in that decisive third quarter. Kirsten Kamholz continued her accurate shooting after a cold start to the season with 10 points, going 2-for-4 from the 3-point line.
