In the battle of the Valleys, the Cyclones had just enough edge to prevail over Illinois Valley Community College.
This was a game where Moraine Valley could not pull away to gain a comfortable lead but still stayed just ahead for each quarter. They jumped to a seven-point lead early in the first quarter, but the Eagles fought back to within two. The second quarter played out evenly as the Cyclones narrowly led 42-39 at the half. The third and fourth quarters each saw double-digit leads, however the underrated Eagles always bounced back. It was still anyone's game with the Cyclones up 74-71 and one minute to go when Diamond Dortch nailed a needed 3-pointer to give her team the 77-71 lead with 50 seconds left. The Cyclones came out victorious, 79-73.
Chelsea Cross led the fight with a team season high of 34 points to go along with six steals. Kirsten Kamholz added 13 points, going 3-for-4 from the 3-point line. Nicole Poole led with 13 rebounds but had an all-around game with six steals, four assists and three blocks. Natalia Trejo added six assists.
