Cyclones score 19 runs in loss

The Cyclones' season opening doubleheader with Joliet Junior College was a battle of the bats. Over two games, Moraine Valley scored 19 runs, but still fell short.

Moraine Valley lost 12-11 in game one, and then lost 10-8 but had to call the game in the fifth inning due to darkness. The offense just couldn't quit. It was the fielding that needed some tightening up to avoid mistakes.

"We scored 19 runs over 12 innings, so everyone was coming up with good hits and making things happen to start the season. We just made some mistakes in the field, but Joliet also had good hits at the right time. We're moving in the right direction," said Head Coach Ari Bulthuis.

Through both games, Danielle Travis went 4-for-8 with a few big hits and 2 RBIs. Brianna Dvorak had a double and 5 RBIs total. Abbie Wantroba also added 3 RBIs collectively. Emily Gorski went 3-for-6 with two home runs. Gorski also had seven strikeouts in the second game through five innings.
