Cyclone offense tallies 28 runs

The Cyclones thought they had a big day at the plate the day before in their 22-run sweep of Morton College. Then they faced College of Lake County and earned six more runs than that for their second sweep of the year.

The first win was a whopping 18-16 venture that included a team-high 20 hits. Everyone in the lineup had at least one hit this game. At one point the Cyclones led 18-8 before the Lancers stormed back with a seven-run sixth inning and another run in the seventh. Mariah Martinez relieved Liz McCuan on the mound and struck out the final two batters to save the game. Donna Booe had four hits, including a triple and a double while driving in four runs. Darcee Nichols, Angela Abrand and Samantha Stahl each had three hits. Annabelle Fritz drove in four runs on two hits while Stahl drove in three.

The Cyclones had more of the upper hand in the second game, winning 10-4. Martinez took the rubber and went seven innings allowing just two earned runs while striking out six. Hitting remained hot as Nichols stroked a three-run triple and tallied two hits. Stahl, Morgan Moran, Jessica Coyle and Morgan Kaminsky (2 RBIs) each had two hits.
