Near comeback in Cyclone loss

The Cyclones had a rough run in their meeting with Joliet Junior College. Although they lost the doubleheader, Moraine Valley battled in the second game for a near comeback.

Some pivotal errors led to seven unearned runs in the Cyclones' 11-3 loss. Darcee Nichols had a good at-bat, hitting a triple and scoring a run for her team.

The second game saw a close 7-6 loss, but not without a fight. The Cyclones scored four runs in the first inning. Angela Abrand and Nichols opened with singles while Donna Booe walked to load the bases. One out later, Liz McCuan grounded to second, who committed a throwing error which scored Abrand and Nichols. Jessica Coyle then singled to score Booe and McCuan. The Wolves countered in the bottom of the first to make it 4-1. The Cyclones answered with another run in the second when Abrand walked, stole second and scored on a Nichols' single. Joliet scored two in the bottom of the second on a two-run homerun off starter Mariah Martinez. They got another two-run homer and two-run double to take the lead 7-5. Moraine Valley, however, mounted a comeback in the seventh. With one out, Abrand singled and later stole second. Booe walked, putting runners at first and second. Samantha Stahl then singled to center to score Abrand and make it 7-6. McCuan drew a walk to load the bases. However, Madi Davis flew out to left center to end the game.
