David Alvarez returned to Moraine Valley in summer 2022 as assistant coach after much running success. He ran for the Cyclones in 2017 and 2018, earning All-Region IV and All-Conference honors both years, helped his team win a region championship in 2017 and competed at nationals both seasons. He then ran for Saint Xavier University, where he contributed to the NAIA national qualifying team in 2019 and was an individual NAIA national qualifier in 2021. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in graphic design.
