The four Cyclones who qualified to race at the Big Dance contented with humid conditions but still ran well at the NJCAA Division II Cross Country Championship in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Cyclones dominated the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Championship and made history, earning a rare three-peat crown and several individual honors, including having the top two fastest runners.
In the Cyclones’ latest 8K race – the Bradley Pink Classic at Bradley University Newman Golf Course in Peoria – the men ran their fastest meet of the year. They placed 11th out of 18 teams, mostly four-year colleges and universities.
On a course full of rolling hills, the Cyclones ran into third place at the Ranger Open at University of Wisconsin (UW)-Parkside, Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha.
What a day for the Cyclones. Every Cyclone ran a personal best and freshman David Olmos broke the school record at the Gil Dodds Invitational at Wheaton College at St. James Farm in Warrenville.
A third place finish for the Cyclones’ season opener and third place individual finish for David Olmos at the Earlybird Invitational at Eldridge Park in Elmhurst really set the tone for what’s to come.
The last two years have yielded plenty of success for the men’s cross country team. They’re hoping to continue that trend with a third conference championship and more in 2022.
