Hangin' tough at Purdue Classic

In their first 8K of the season and as the only community college, the Cyclones, running all freshmen, took a solid fourth out of six teams at the Purdue Northwest Classic Cross Country Invitational.

Suhayb Froukh ran the second fastest time in a season opening 8K race in Moraine Valley history to lead the way—27:14 for a 12th place finish. He was followed by Carlos Galvan (22nd, 28:19), Grant Wright (25th, 29:07), Matt Pierce (31st, 30:11), Nick Marfoe (35th, 31:10) and Chris Santoyo (43rd, 33:10).

"I was very pleased with how they handled the distance. They actually ran faster than I expected them to, so it was a nice surprise. Carlos and Grant ran big negative splits, which is always my goal for everyone," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas. "We'll continue to work on the gaps between everyone, but we don't race next weekend, so it gives us extra time to prepare for their second attempt at this distance."
