Down a player, Cyclones eek out victory over Spartans

If the Cyclones have proven anything this season, it's that they are resilient. Down a player most of the game, they were able to earn a 3-2 victory over Elgin Community College.

The Cyclones and Spartans were tied for third in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference, making this a contentious matchup. Within 15 minutes of the start, the Cyclones were dealt a red card, giving them only 10 players on the field for the remaining 75 minutes. Several players caused trouble for Moraine Valley, but Fernando Rosales Ramos and Aldo Lagunas were able to find the net in the first half. However, Elgin tied the game by halftime, 2-2.

Colin Kroll scored the ultimate game winner after 20 minutes in the second half while the defense held off attacks and attempts from the Spartans. Fernando Barragan had two assists while Declan Kelly collected one. Keeper Andruw Martinez kept things tight at the net in this win.

"I'm really proud of the guys today. This was a game a weaker team would lose for sure. We scored all three goals down a man. They knew how to win the game," said Head Coach Chris Koloffon.

UPDATE
Due to a technicality with the red card earned by the Cyclones, they forfeited this win into a 1-0 loss to Elgin Community College.
