Matt Lovelace returned to Moraine Valley in 2016 as the head coach of the golf program after long-time coach Bob Freudenthal retired. He has since had two golfers compete at the national tournament and several others earn conference honors.

Lovelace spent his two years (2009, 2010) on the Moraine Valley golf team, where he was an All-NJCAA Region IV and All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference player both seasons. He competed at the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championship and is only one of three Cyclones to qualify for and compete at nationals for two consecutive years. In the 2009 season, he helped lead his team to a Skyway championship. After Moraine Valley, he played his final two years at Trinity Christian College before becoming the assistant coach. For three years he coached Trinity’s golf team, taking the 2015 squad to a top finish at the St. Francis Tournament, a region championship and trip to the NCCAA championship.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Studies with a minor in psychology from Trinity Christian College.
