Second place finish and All-Conference honors in windy outing

Under very windy conditions, the Cyclones maintained their composure and consistency to take second place in their final Skyway conference match at Pine Meadow Golf Club in Mundelein. They ended the regular season in third overall with two golfers earning All-Conference honors.

The second place finish was the highest the Cyclones have reached all season, but doing it under high winds was even more impressive. They only trailed first place by eight shots. No team posted any scores in the 70s. This was the last conference match of a shortened season and landed the Cyclones in third overall.

For their work, Marty Bennett and Paul Douglas placed fourth and seventh, respectively, among all conference golfers. Only the top 10 can medal. Bennett averaged 80.2 this season while Douglas averaged 82.6. This is the second year the duo earned All-Conference honors. They led the way this outing with Bennett shooting an 84 and Douglas with an 86. Coming in close behind was Randy Miller with a 90, Patrick Clifton with 93, Connor Finn at 99 and Jack McDonald with 103.

The Cyclones compete next in the NJCAA Region IV Preview on Oct. 2, which is a week before the regional championships.
