Rough run at regionals

For the Cyclones, the Region IV tournament (Oct. 3-5) at PrairieView Golf Course in Byron, Illinois, was their biggest event of the season. They worked hard toward this three-day tournament, but encountered some bumps in the road for a ninth place finish.

The first round saw a cold and windy day. The course was challenging, and the lowest round of the day was a 75. Paul Douglas held the lowest score for his team with an 87. Right behind him was Michael Rollberg (88) followed by Marty Bennett (89), Akim Bizati (94) and Patrick Clifton (103). With a team score of 358, Moraine Valley was in 8th place on the first day.

Round two was a perfect day to play golf, however, Moraine Valley struggled to find their groove. Bennett was the only one to score better on the second day with an 84 and a chance at an All-Region medal. Douglas had 91, Rollberg hit a 95 while Bizati and Clifton each scored 100.

The final day was another rough one for the Cyclones that solidified their ninth place finish. Bennett had 89 followed by Douglas (90), Rollberg (94), Bizati (96) and Clifton (100).

"Sometimes golf is hard. It was not the results we had hoped for, but the guys did their best," said Head Coach Matt Lovelace. "This event capped off another great season of Cyclone golf."
