The Cyclones had their work cut out for them in the NJCAA Region 4 semifinals as they faced the No. 3 team in Division II – South Suburban. They lost the battle despite their efforts.
It wasn’t their prettiest game, but the Cyclones got one step closer to nationals after an 87-76 victory over Illinois Valley Community College in the NJCAA Region 4 quarterfinals.
This was a game the Cyclones wanted, and nearly had, but for the nagging persistence of the Waubonsee Community College Chiefs. Moraine Valley lost this battle in double overtime 104-94.
After a tough battle over 40 minutes with McHenry County College, the Cyclones lost the lead in the final moments of the game for a rare defeat in conference play.
In their third straight victory, the Cyclones dominated Elgin Community College 118-91 at home. This was the fifth 100-plus scoring win for Moraine Valley.
The Cyclones earned a huge win over the always tough Danville Area Community College Jaguars at home. The surge in the final minutes of the game made all the difference.
The Cyclones’ latest victory was pure will and determination over a tough Bryant and Stratton College, but they persevered thanks to a strong second half.
