Cyclones fall in home opener

In their home and season opener, the Cyclones started fast and furious, but lost momentum in the second half, falling 87-79 to Kankakee Community College.

Starting a more normal season during a regular time of year was exciting for the Cyclones. And they came out charging against the Cavaliers. Newcomer Isiah Burd led the first half with eight points and helped his team hold the lead for those 20 minutes, going 43-38 at halftime.

The second half told a different story. The Cavaliers scored first and within five minutes tied the game. The Cyclones made some scoring surges, but had a few missed shots and free throws that caught up with them. At one point, they were down by 10 points, but eventually whittled it down to four. In the final few minutes, the Cyclones fouled but also struggled to capitalize on free throws, ultimately losing the matchup.

Kobe Adams led the effort with 28 points followed by Trace Williams with 15, and Burd and Anthony Taylor each with 10. Nathan Purcell grabbed eight rebounds for the night while Jace Lee had seven. Adams and Purcell also had three steals each.
