Jalen Hughes competes at Mullen’s Premier JC Invitational

It's not every day Cyclone athletes get to play their sport with others from around the country. Sophomore basketball player Jalen Hughes was one of the lucky ones when he was chosen to play in the Mullen's Premier JC Invitational in Dallas, Texas, July 12-14.

This event was an invite only for 160 of the top junior college basketball players around the U.S. Hughes completed his first season with the Cyclones, earning All-Conference honorable mention. He was placed on a team with guys from Texas, Montana and California, and they played three games. College coaches from several NCAA colleges and universities were in attendance.

"It was a good experience, a learning experience. It tested my game against top people in the country and helped me see what I need to do to get better," Hughes said. "I feel more prepared for the season, more motivated and more confident."

"We are super excited Jalen had this opportunity to showcase his talents at the national level," said Cyclone head men's basketball Coach John Chappetto. "He's a hard worker, and the invitation is a great reward for that hard work."
