Big ol' sweep

Big ol' sweep

The Cyclones outscored the Illinois Valley Community College Eagles 17-to-6 in their doubleheader sweep.

GAME ONE
It only took two innings for the Cyclones to collect all their runs, but it was enough to defeat the Eagles despite their attempted comebacks.

The Cyclones jumped ahead 3-0 in their first-at bat before the Eagles countered with two runs. A four-run third inning and keeping the Eagles down at the plate helped secure the 7-6 victory.

Lucas Hicks earned the win after throwing seven innings and striking out two. Troy Vosburgh had a huge game, going 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and 4 RBIs. Christian Rosales (2-for-4, 2B), Aiden Radtke (1-for-4, 2B) and Caston Norris each had an RBI.

GAME TWO
Pitcher Zachary Koschnitzki helped thwart any offense by the Eagles as he shut them down while the Cyclone bats came alive in a 10-0 shutout.

Koschnitzki threw six innings and struck out six without allowing a walk or any runs this game. Meanwhile, the Cyclones scored in all but one inning. Ryder Johnson (2-for-4, 2B), Alejandro Munoz (2-for-4), Vosburgh (2-for-4, 2B), Rosales, Hicks (1-for-3, 2B) and Andrew Phelan (2-for-3, 2B) each had an RBI while Radtke (2-for-3) collected two.
