Big hits aren't enough to surpass Spartans

Even with one homerun in each game, the Cyclones dropped two to Elgin Community College.

GAME 1
The Cyclones only had six hits in this game, capitalizing on one run in the fourth inning on a homerun from Thomas Carlson (1-for-3). Elgin scored in the first inning with a three-run homerun then added six more in the fifth and two in the sixth all on multiple hits, giving the Cyclones the 11-1 loss.

Robert Warchol led at the plate with two hits. William Miller, Samuel Rogers and Gavin Quinlan also each had a hit in this game. Agustin Velazquez took the loss after three innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out two.

GAME 2
The Cyclones held a lead for most of this game until the bottom of the sixth inning, losing the effort 8-7.

Danzel Lucas (2-for-3, 2B, RBI) started the scoring in the top of the first after drawing a walk to score one. The Cyclones ran three more guys across the plate and added one in the second to lead 5-0. The Spartans then scored twice in the third with the Cyclones answering with two more in the fourth, including off a homerun from Gilberto Hernandez (1-for-2, RBI). Elgin scored four in the fifth, but the Cyclones still led 7-6 going into the sixth inning. A two-run homerun by the Spartans was the culprit as the Cyclones couldn't answer in the seventh and fell 8-7.

Anthony Cappelletti was big on offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs. Carlson (2-for-3, 2B) also had 2 RBIs. Daniel Rosado took the loss after five innings, surrendering six runs on seven hits and striking out seven.
