Cyclones defeat nationally ranked Cavaliers in dramatic fashion

It feels good to win, especially when it's over the No. 9 NJCAA-ranked Kankakee Community College Cavaliers. The Cyclones have faced the Cavaliers two other times this season, losing both outings. Not only was this 13-2 victory redemption, but also assurance that they can hang with these top teams.

The Cyclones brought a combination of mega hitting with solid pitching, both of which sophomore Andrew Tenison (2-for-4, 2B, 3B, HR, 4 RBIs) contributed to. He hit an RBI double to get the Cyclone on the board in the first inning. He later hit a three-run long ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to end the game by slaughter. Tenison also earned the win after throwing six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out eight.

A big five-run second inning saw a two-run double from Alex Martinez (1-for-5, 3 RBIs) and solo blast by Patrick Hayes (2-for-3, 2 RBIs). Before Tenison's homerun, Christopher Villafuerte (2-for-5, RBI) knocked in a run off a line drive and they scored on a fielder's choice by Martinez. Collectively, the Cyclones scattered nine hits this game. Luke Bentley threw one-third of an inning in relief.

This is the Cyclones' third straight win and puts them over .500.
