Big hits complete the sweep

To evade incoming poor weather, the Cyclones played a triple header, winning all three to complete their stint in Arkansas.

In their first matchup with Western Technical College, the Cyclones won 12-3 and 13-4. The first clobbering of Western Tech saw Villafuerte (3-for-5) bat in seven RBIs, including a grand slam in the third and another homer in the sixth. Ryan Grand and Steve Insley each collected multiple hits in the win. Pitcher Brendan Gill pitched the Cyclones to victory, allowing one hit and two runs over four innings and striking out seven.

In the second game, a big nine-run sixth inning helped shut down the Cavaliers after the teams were stuck in a tie for three innings. Jake Peterka (2-for-4, two doubles) started the inning with a two-run double. Alex Martinez (1-for-3, 3 RBIs, homerun), Patrick Hayes (2 RBIs) and Chris Villafuerte (RBI) also contributed.

Their final game of the trip was against host school North Arkansas College. The Cyclone offense went to work in the first inning, batting in four, started by a two-run double from Martinez (2-for-3, 3 RBIs, homerun). Another four-run fifth inning saw an inside the park homerun from Tenison (2-for-4, 3 RBIs), who launched a second two-run homerun the next inning. The Cyclones won 12-7.
